This past spring I had the honor of photographing this beautiful "Little" family.
I met Jessica Little and all her lovely family a couple of years ago at her brother's wedding (who is also a very good friend of my husband, David). Two months ago she found me on Instagram and contacted me to do a photo session as a gift for Mother's Day. When she told me she wanted to do the session at her family winery I was super excited! I mean, when living in the wine country there is no better place than a vineyard to do an outdoors photo session, right? Especially when the vineyard is in your backyard! I can say with confidence that Jessica, Mike and Hunter live in one of the most beautiful places in the Sonoma Valley. The Little Vineyards Family winery is a boutique, family-owned winery, located in a private vineyard setting in the heart of Sonoma and produces small lots of hand crafted premium red wines. Check their website www.littlevineyards.com to learn more about their wines.
It was a delightful afternoon from start to finish. It’s pretty awesome when you have amazing clients who are fun and outgoing and have a blast taking photos. Jessica and Mike were just so adorable and fun. So many inside jokes and so much love! They were so special in the way that they cared for each other and in the sincerity of their appreciation for what I was capturing for them. I am not sure if they realized this but they also gave me a gift that evening! In the midst of life’s craziness, it was really refreshing to spend an evening just watching them be the beautiful family that they are. This was our first time shooting together and I just couldn’t get over little Hunter! His expressions, his moments of play and cuddle. Each family session - especially when there are kids involved - is different because children can surprise us! When photographing kids it's all about “chasing their cuteness"... give them a prop or a situation to deal with, run around, get on the ground and shoot!
I remember I left their house with lots of warm hugs and few bottles of the Little Family Vineyards wines to enjoy at home. Man! It's great to live in the wine country! ;) Thank you to this family for being so welcoming, and allowing me onto their property to shoot this wonderful session!!
I know I have said this many times before, but I love photographing families! And especially the session with these guys! Goodness. They are such a beautiful, sweet, and fun family! I simply adore them. I met Ben and Ashley at church a little more than a year ago when they only had their adorable little Hazel in their lives (Ben and my husband, David, are in the worship team at our church here in Napa, and it's always fun to see them play together). Their upbeat personalities made this photo session so easy and smooth. This was their very first professional family photo session and one of my first shoots when I moved to Napa Valley a year ago. The timing was perfect because they were expecting a new addition to their family: baby Brooks.
It is no secret that I love outdoor sessions and this one specifically was at a location that I always love to go back to: Kennedy Park. There is something about the open skies and the fresh feel of riverfront in this place that makes me want to come back over and over again. The weather that day was perfect and we got the most amazing light just before sunset.
Ashley really made pregnancy look so natural and glamorous. She was glowing and just looked so amazing wearing the exact same dress that her mother wore when she was pregnant with Ashley. And of course, there's Hazel! She was so excited to dress exactly like her mom and I loved watching her personality come alive during the photo shoot. She was so excited to become "the big sister"!
This family was such a joy to work with. There was something so special about witnessing the love and laughter between each other and just letting special moments unfold. Ben, Ashley and Hazel, thank you for having me capture this exciting time in your lives!

This is one of the most memorable photo sessions to me, not only because I got to photograph some of my favorite people but because it was the last photo session I did in Costa Rica before moving to California. It was a true blessing to spend a Saturday morning in my favorite park with my cousin Andrea and her adorable girls María José and Catalina and capture some magical moments of the three of them together. This session was mostly about sisterly love and I was mildly obsessed with it! I have known María José and Catalina since they were born and I have always found a bond that I just love to photograph. Always smiling, having fun together and really enjoying each other. I look forward to many more moments like this one and more opportunities to do more photo shoots together, here in Napa or back in Costa Rica!
Here are some of my favorite photos of that day. Enjoy!
